Family Planning Policy
The Family Planning Policy has certain guidelines that need to be followed by the Family Planning Clinics. All the clinics and the agencies that come under the Natural Family Planning Program have to follow the Privacy Act (1988). The policy is such that the clinics have to follow the Information and National Privacy principles. The policy also states that the clinics should provide all the information demanded by their clients so that they are aware about their Privacy Rights.
Collection
The collection of information regarding the client is a crucial aspect of the policy. But many times the information is very sensitive and the cleint can choose to keep the information secure. The client can share information that is concerned only about getting the service and can choose to not give other irrelevant information.
Use and Disclosure
The clinics can use the information that is concerned with providing the family planning service. They cannot access other personal information which is not related to the purpose of Family Planning. Also the information that is collected is shared only with the people who are important such as the doctors and the spouse of the client. Unless the law gives the permission the clinics cannot disclose the information about the client to any other organization or person.
Access and Correction
The client has the provision to access his or her health records. The client will, also be helped if he or she wishes to make any changes in the health records. The changes such as correction,deletion or addition will be helped with.
Data Quality
The clinics have to ensure that the information collected is of quality. The information should be up to date and complete so that it can be used for the family planning purpose. Also the information should be protected from theft,alteration, loss or unauthorized access.
